ABOUT
Clay Identity/ Shapeshifter project is a collaboration between My Neighbour is a Witch Dance Collective and Ceramics artist Agnes Marin.
My Neighbour is a Witch consisting of Amanda Marin,Moss Seibert and Felicia Nilsson.We are 3 passionate queer dancers who as a collective strive to strike the balance between intellectual,emotional and sensory work,crafting pieces with tenderness that sit in the sweet spot between joy and tragedy,through imagination,physicality and playfulness.
Agnes Marin grew up in the Swedish north,shaped by the waves in the archipelago, the cloudberry mires and the snow. My primary focuses are playfulness,clean shapes and sustainable production, where each object is unique since all steps are done by hand.
About the project
Clay identity/shapeshifter is based in Germany, North of Sweden/Norrbotten and South of Sweden.
This is an exploration of identity, clay, and self-acceptance. In Clay Identity/ Shapeshifter we invite you to join the space of sensing, creating and communication. Together we are faced to handle and go though states, like clay, we humans are constantly impacted by outer and inner forces and we will never be the same. There will come a point, when you create the shape you wanted, refine it, and realise that ‘perfect’ does not exist, you decide when you are done, to find an end and start again.
Beside the performance there is the shaping session, where we focus on continuity and get a deeper understanding of the topic through tools we created in our process.
Clay identity/ shapeshifter is interactive performance in the instant, going through stages of reflection, constant change and letting go. Clay, bodies and movements, artforms filled with history and life meet, to together figure the world out. The performance is created to meet, to start conversations, to be brought home and remembered. You will be invited to participate in the meaning of touching the clay and getting to know and explore the material, and possibly, yourself.

Clay identity shaping session
Move me, work me out, roll me around, shape me to that specific shape that defines who I became, who I am. In the shaping session we will explore tools and tasks that challenge our understanding of identity and deepen our ability to sense and touch through movements, clay and other bodies. Researching through clay, movement and dance our identities as individuals and group(s). Leaving traces in each other, shaping each other. You will be invited to participate in the meaning of touching the clay and getting to know and explore the material, and possibly, yourself.
Questions we work with: Are we our own creation and idea? Who sketched that piece of art we became and constantly are becoming? How much does the origin of us, of the clay impact the result?
