CLAY IDENTITY/ SHAPESHIFTER

Project Type

Interdisciplinary performance/ workshop performance

Date

2024-2025 ongoing

Clay Identity/ Shapeshifter: A collaboration between My Neighbour is a
Witch Dance Collective and Ceramic Artist Agnes Marin, in an exploration of
identity, clay, and self-acceptance. An interdisciplinary research between
ceramics, dance performance, clay, bodies, and movements. Dealing with
questions such as “How much does our personal history impact us and our
actions in life?” and with the fact that today the political state is once again
questioning our connection to identity and heritage, whereas seen historically, the topic creates big micro and macro conflicts.

Together we want to create a method of moving and thinking that encourages
breaking discriminatory structural norms within individuals/groups of people and empowers people and their individual stories within a collective society.

A mix of performance and workshop, opens up for dialogue, where the performance gives a wider view/broadens the perspectives and the workshop can bridge the thought process, enhancing individual change and connections
within a feeling of togetherness. It provides an insight and ability to learn and reflect on self and society in everything around us, through material and movements.

People who participate in ‘Shapeshifter/ Clay identity’ are being seen and offered a space to both receive and express themselves through an alternative way of interdisciplinary art. We find it very important for the development of art and society to collaborate between different art forms, to deepen connections of
understanding and enrich the existing knowledge.
